Drainage, Pipe & Batter Stabilisation

Water Managed. Infrastructure Protected.

Poor drainage is one of the most common causes of site failure, costly rework, and failed council inspections. Next Stage Civil installs drainage systems for developers, councils, builders, and infrastructure contractors across NSW — integrating water management into projects from the ground up, not as a fix after the damage is done.

With 20 years of practical site experience, we sequence drainage works efficiently alongside earthworks and road construction — reducing downtime and avoiding the rework that comes from treating drainage as a separate afterthought.

Scope of Works

From trenching and pipe installation to culverts, compaction, and grading for runoff, here's what the service covers.

Tick Icon

Trenching & excavation

Machine excavation for stormwater, culvert, and underground service installation to required depths and grades.

Tick Icon

Pipe laying & culvert installation

Supply and installation of stormwater pipes, culverts, and underground drainage infrastructure to design specification.

Tick Icon

Backfilling & compaction

Engineered backfill and compaction over installed pipes to ensure structural integrity and surface stability.

Tick Icon

Surface grading for runoff

GPS-guided surface grading to establish correct drainage falls and direct water away from infrastructure and structures.

Tick Icon

Swales & table drains

Shaped drainage channels, swales, and table drains integrated with road and site drainage systems.

Tick Icon

Batter shaping & stabilisation

Cut and fill batter shaping to stable angles, with surface treatment to prevent erosion and slippage.

Our process

A proven process that keeps your project moving with no guesswork, delays, or surprises.

Two construction workers review plans outdoors, one in blue workwear pointing while holding rolled blueprints, the other wearing a white hard hat.

Scope review & site assessment

We review your drawings, visit the site where required, and provide a clear, detailed quote with no ambiguity on what's included.

Mobilisation & site setup

Plant, haulage, and personnel are coordinated in-house. We mobilise on schedule so there's no waiting on third parties to confirm availability.

GPS-controlled earthworks

All major excavation and grading is performed using 3D GPS, working directly to your design file. Levels are checked progressively throughout.

Final trim, clean & handover

We complete a final trim to design tolerances, remove all excess material, and hand over a clean, construction-ready site.

What sets us apart

Our work is built around control and consistency. By reducing variables and keeping responsibility under one team, we deliver sites that are ready to move forward not ones that need correcting.

GPS-equipped fleet

All major plant runs 3D GPS so we hit design levels accurately, first time, with fewer complications when the next trade comes on.

In-house haulage

We own and operate our haulage equipment. Material and machinery move on the project schedule, not a third party's.

Owner-operated oversight

Daniel runs every job. You deal directly with the person accountable for the outcome not a supervisor passing messages up a chain.

Frequently asked questions

Need more information before getting started?

Here are answers to the questions we’re most commonly asked. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, get in touch.

Do you design the drainage system or just install it?

We work from engineer-supplied or council-approved drainage designs. If you don't have a design yet, we can work with your engineer or refer you to one, we just need a design to work from before installation begins.

Can drainage be done at the same time as earthworks and road construction?

Yes, and that's exactly how we prefer to sequence it. Integrating drainage into the earthworks and road construction phases avoids rework and keeps the project moving efficiently.

What types of drainage do you install?

Stormwater pipes, culverts, table drains, swales, agricultural drainage, and underground services trenching. If it involves earthworks and water management, it's within our scope.

Do you work on both civil and rural drainage projects?

Yes. We work on everything from council and developer stormwater infrastructure through to rural property drainage, farm dams, and water management earthworks.

What happens if drainage isn't done correctly?

Site flooding, erosion, pavement failure, structural damage, and failed council inspections are the most common consequences. Getting drainage right from the start is significantly cheaper than rectifying it later.
